By Kersey McCloskey Jr.
The author is the son of Kersey and Jessie McCloskey, He attended East Palestine, schools, Duke University, Robert Morris University, and Youngstown State University graduating with a degree in accounting, and a masters degree in finance. After serving two years active duty in the Marine Corps he pursued a career in banking that spanned thirty years. He was elected to four terms as the Auditor of the city of East Palestine. In June 1965, he married Jayne Schaeffer. They had three children, Lee Ann, David Kersey, and Brooke Erin.
I have looked at the How, why, and when East Palestine was founded. The book is not a true history book in many respects. I have used a great many pictures in order to show how East Palestine looked in the early days. I have showed the early pictures of the town, early merchants, the schools, the post office, the first churches in town, and the mining of clay and coal.
When Volume II is published it will show the development of the pottery industry, the rubber manufacturing, and East Palestine's contributions to World War I effort.
