48 Hour Books Poetry Contest: Spring Fever

It’s our seventh year hosting a writing contest, so this time we want to change it up! In honor of National Poetry Month, we will be celebrating it with, (you guessed it), a poetry contest! Poets – it’s your time to shine.

This contest is FREE to enter!

 

Winner Receives:

• Printing for 50 paperback books (*Black & white interior with full-color Gloss UV cover, 60# paper, any size up to 300 pages)
  • o If your book order has upgrades or does not fit within the prize parameters listed above, we’ll instead give you $500 off the total order cost (can be applied to one order only; cannot be redeemed for cash or on multiple orders, even if the total order cost is less than $500)
• Winning submission will be featured on our blog and in our newsletter

***There will be no runners-up announced or rewarded for this contest; there will only be one winner notified.

 

Contest Rules:

• Entries should be a maximum of 500 words
• Entries must be submitted in a Word Document or other word processing program format (not a pdf)
• Include the word count in your email submission
• Entry must be titled
• Submissions will be accepted until April 19, 2024
• Winner will be notified via email on May 3, 2024
• Winners will be announced via newsletter to participants on May 6, 2024
• Winning submission will be featured on our Blog on May 8, 2024
• Only one (1) submission per person 

You are welcome to submit an existing poem you have written if it adheres to the contest theme. Please do not submit a PDF of your poetry book – this will not qualify for the contest. Your submission should only be a maximum of 500 words. If your submission does not fall within this range, it will not be considered for judging.

No entry fee is required, and all rights of the poem remain the property of the author. All entries must be original works by the entrant.

 

Contest Prompt:  Write a poem inspired by the spring season. 

 

What We’re Looking For:

Prize will be awarded to the submission that:

• Is well-written and well-structured
• Adheres to the contest prompt
• Exhibits common elements found in poetry, such as:
  • Theme
  • Tone
  • Mood
  • Rhythm
  • Imagery
  • Symbolism
  • Structure

• Email must include your first and last name and word count
