Marcy Jo's Mealhouse "Changin' Lives One Bite At A Time"

You know it’s funny, but this little restaurant that has become such a big part of our lives, actually began as an unexpected conversation at the kitchen table in our farmhouse. There had always been a run-down, vacant, old general store just down the road from us that we all passed by everyday, and one afternoon in 2006 when Marcy had come over to visit us and we were all sitting around talking and she said, “you know Jo, we ought to put a café in that old place”. And just like that, our lives have never been the same. There was lots of work to be done of course to get it ready, and even more work to do after we opened the doors. But truthfully, it has been a wonderful labor of love that has not only brought Marcy, Rory and I closer together, but it’s brought our little community of Pottsville closer and in a much bigger way, it has opened our little world to hundreds of thousands of people around the country who have seen it on our tv show and come to know and love Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse as much as we do. I worked every day there by Marcy’s side for the first year that we were opened, but once Rory and I’s music career took off, she’s had to do most of the heavy-lifting at the restaurant herself, and it’s been a beautiful thing to see that little café, and Marcy, become what they were always meant to be.
